The Fifth Beatle (EN)
A brief, simple explanation, suitable for the whole family. First of all, let me say that if I’ve called this page "The Fifth Beatle," it’s to talk about who is behind the scenes of every post.
I hope this brings me some financial return in the future and—hear me out—maybe I can even hire someone. As for the rest, anyone who wants to be paid in "professional experience" is welcome (just kidding: know your worth and don't let anyone exploit you).
My name is Alberto Candelario Brito. You are currently at my freelance literary project, "Salpicón de Poesía." Through this platform, I try to bring my literary production to every true lover of letters. I should warn you upfront that, despite how scattered the blog posts may be, the website is active. Due to work and academic reasons (luckily), I find myself with very limited time to dedicate to the project. Even though this project is already a year old, it is still under construction, and there is much work to be done.
Salpicón was born as a way to materialize and make tangible that need for literary creation—something that occupies a vast space in my heart and that, no matter how hard I try, I cannot fight against.
There used to be a paragraph here where I defined myself and my literary style a bit. But in the end, that’s just talk. Because I might just as easily send you a free verse poem, a décima, or a short story (which could be about an old man digging potatoes or an Iranian melodrama about robots abandoned on the Moon); perhaps even an essay (I have enough personal material for that to last a lifetime, as they say). If we have to use labels (how we humans love them, don't we?), I’d place myself within the current of literary liberalism or "laissez-faire, motherfuckers."
On an autobiographical level: well, I am Canarian (and proud) from the most beautiful island of all, from a charming village whose name Cervantes remembers quite well, but who now lives in Santander (Cantabria, Spain) for personal reasons. All my life, I’ve worked mostly in the scientific world (watch out for those scientists—they are the most humanist of all); right now, I’m working in fisheries science. On a personal level, I’d define myself as a good person with a vast inner world—quite shy and introverted—but capable of pulling a joke even from the bottom of a coffee cup (at work, they nickname me "the brother-in-law" because of my cheesy "dad jokes").
I could tell you more, but I believe that through what I do and write, believe it or not, you’ll get to know me. ;-)
After all that rambling, all I have left to say is...
¡LET'S WRITE!
