DAY OF THE CANARY ISLANDS (EN)
Our story
is not only written
on paper.
Our forests,
our cave,
our sea
and our people
make eternal
what celulosa
never could.
It is not easy
to see
the Sun's arrive,
but we are polite
and we stay at his side
until he leave us.
Despite the distance
between us
our closeness shines through.
Isolated, we are more united,
in the distance, we miss more the other.
The hands
have deep cracks,
but not our soul.
The face is sun-weathered,
but our will is clear.
The pine,
the jable,
the land,
the seafairing,
are part
of our cultural DNA.
So it is, too,
to serve a glass of wine
to the thirsty. A piece of meat,
a potato,
served with a good mojo sauce,
to the hungry.
A smile,
to whoever needs it most.
That’s how we are,
that’s how we "be".
Forgive us
for rejoicing
over here,
Hercules,
but we are grateful
that you stole
the wrong apples
when you made
your visit
to the Hesperides
;-)
